Moon Cake
Ha...
I'd never thought about I would make moon cake. First of all, I'm not interesting in eating Chinese traditional pastry. They are usually too sweet to eat. Even in the festival like moon festival, I used to have only one bite in order to "taste" the atmosphere that the festival gave. Second, it has to take time and make effort preparing ingredients and making different components then assembling together. The most funny thing is that I'd never made it when I lived in Taiwan until I've lived in the U.S..
The whole process is not easy, but it is very fun and interesting, I enjoy it very much. Although there are many flaws, I think this is the most delicious mook cake I've ever had. I think it is because this is what I made, nobody would dislike their child, right? They're not as sweet and greasy as common store-bought moon cakes, just fit my appetite.
The flaws are I bought the wrong red bean and the filling exploded while baking. I didn't know that the "small red bean" is not the red bean we use to eat. These "small red beans" is the beans named "big red bean" or "flower bean" in my country. Thus, the flavor is a little bit different, they are less flavor than the red bean in my nation. The other flaw I mentioned in above is the exploded filling, because of that, the moon cakes are like lava, and some of them are hollow inside because most of the filling came out...
Anyway, happy moon festival!
